Everything’s on the right track and all deadlines will be respected

The first visit of the renovated infrastructures for the 10th Indian Ocean Island Games which will be held in Mauritius from July 19-28, took place recently and the feedbacks are satisfactory.

Present were Mauritian Minister for Youth and Sports Stephan Toussaint, permanent secretary and vice-president of theComité d'organisation des Jeux des îles (Coji) Mubarak Boodhun and and Jean-Pierre Sauzier, the chief executive of Coji.

“The purpose of this series of visits is to note the progress of the work, as well as to verify the extent of the alterations to be made to the different infrastructures,” explained Minister Toussaint.

He noted that they met with the site managers who confirmed that everything was in line with the recommendations, while only some minor alterations needed to be made.

“A few touches of paints are needed here and there, but overall, the infrastructure is 99.9% ready,” further confirmed the Mauritian sports minister.

The stadium Germain-Comarmond in Bambous which will host the athletics competitions, should be handed over at the end of the week.

Minister Toussaint said bad weather might slightly affect the handing over time, but everything is on the right track.

"The Bambous project took place in three phases and we are now in the third, which should be completed by Friday," he also confirmed.

Just like the stadium Auguste-Vollaire which will host the football matches for pool B, the work is in its final phase with only the laying of the tartan, as well as the various markings remaining.

In addition, a small committee travelled to Côte d'Or for a report on the progress of the work and according to forecasts, the date of June 30 for handing over will be respected.
