Action from the match

First win for Futuro over Plaisance in sloppy game

After two defeats in their last two matches and this being their fifth friendly match since the restart of training, Futuro finally wanted that first win in this higher age category.

A year ago Futuro were still playing under-13 and under-15 matches.

Defeats against third division title contenders Rovers FC and Plaisance as well as two draws against Foresters U20 and Mont Fleuri U18, Futuro wanted a first win. Plaisance started in a 4-3-3 formation while Futuro kept playing in their usual 3-1-3-3 system.

Plaisance shot into the lead in the first minute of play after their player Aron Dubel stole a pass in the Futuro penalty area to score (1-0). Goal scorer Dubel is expected to join the Futuro team soon.

Following instructions to change their playing pattern, Futuro got their act together and equalised in the 10th minute of play. Matthew Rouillon collected a deep pass from Joshua Clarisse and he scored to equalise at 1-1.

Coach Steve Herbots told his players to play higher and faster, but that also made it more dangerous because of the many long balls from Plaisance. Plaisance’s attackers tried to out-run the defenders of Futuro with every long ball.

Futuro played a decent first 35 minutes and that resulted in the second goal in the 33rd minute. Clarisse turned from provider to scorer after receiving a pass from Julius Sally.

Then the tempo of the game dropped and both teams tried to score to win the game but they were just too sloppy to make it a conformable match to look at. The many young supporters from Plaisance school tried to encourage their team to victory but Futuro finally celebrated their first win in this age category.

Futuro will be in action again tomorrow when they meet Rovers FC who have boasted about registering a 10-0 win.

Futuro have thanked Plaisance for giving them the chance to play more matches and they are sure to meet again in the future.
