The supply team at Seychelles Breweries Limited (SBL) has beaten Latin America Centre of Excellence and European Partner Markets Beer Supply in the finals to clinch the Award in Excellence in Managing Cost Category across all markets within Diageo, SBL’s parent company.

The Award in Excellence in Managing Cost is part of the Diageo’s Global Supply and Procurement Annual Award which recognises best performers in various categories around the globe.

The different categories span from Environment, Health & Safety, Quality and Sustainability to Cost Management and Efficiencies.

Diageo operates within 120 countries across the globe and in all, 180 nominations were received for the Award.

The managing director of SBL, Conor Neiland, has said this is a massive achievement by Seychelles Breweries Ltd. to win a Global award of this stature.

“It reflects all the hard work that our 140 staff put in daily to deliver great tasting beverages to all of our customers and consumers in Seychelles,” the managing director said.

On his part the company’s supply chain director Jan Brestovansky said that he was absolutely delighted, describing the Award as a “great recognition for Seychelles Breweries, Indian Ocean and Africa Emerging Markets we belong to. The category in which we have won recognises our effective cost management across the business which especially in these challenging times matters more than ever.  We were able to demonstrate great performance and tenacity in areas of productivity/cost savings, waste reduction and water management which all hugely contributed to this award. It’s been a journey we started a couple of years ago already recognised last year for winning the most improved market in Diageo, but nevertheless there is still a lot do. It’s great to see the understanding of our purpose and ‘the why’ we do things across the organisations has started paying off.”

“I would like to thank the entire SBL team and every single individual in the company for the great work delivered and I have absolute confidence this will continue on the way forward,” he concluded.

To enable the company to deliver savings of £1.2 million, 16 different projects linked to site extract, water efficiency, procurement and tramlining were identified across the site. A Site Productivity Steering Committee was also set up to review progress of the different workstreams.
