President signs commencement notices

The Election (Amendment) Act, 2020 and the Political Parties (Registration and Regulations) (Amendment) Act, 2020 have come into operation.

This follows the signing by President Danny Faure of Commencement Notices for the commencement of the Elections (Amendment) Act, 2020 and the Political Parties (Registration and Regulations) (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Following the Presidential assent which was given to the two legislations on August 17, 2020, the department of Legal Affairs prepared the Commencement Notice pursuant to section 1 of both legislations which specifies that the Acts shall come into operation by notice in the Gazette appointed by the President.
