Beau Vallon secondary marks Peace Day with road race

The Beau Vallon secondary school celebrated the International Peace Day on Monday September 21 with a ‘Peace Road Race’.

The event, the second of its kind, is a collaboration with The H Resort. The students participated in the event with joy.

The head teacher of the school, Phillip Morel, noted that “this activity is on our annual calendar for International Peace Day. We organise the inter house peace road race in collaboration with The H Resort with which we have entered into a partnership since last year. The hotel was also planning to have a team to participate with us this year but unfortunately Covid-19 situation have prevented this from happening. However, they still wanted to be part of this activity and sponsored us water and we wanted their banners to be up on this occasion to show our solidarity with them in this difficult situation”.

Mr Morel noted that on Monday morning they had a short, simple assembly with messages of peace from teachers. They also distributed cash prizes to the first five participants of the race from the two categories (S1-S2) and (S3-S5).

To complete the event, some of the talented drummers from the school along with Marie Chantal composed and performed a moutya song on peace.

All in all, the students as well as the teachers were reminded on the importance of having a peaceful society and how we can promote it in our environment.

The accompanying photos sent to us by the Beau Vallon secondary school show some highlights of the road race.
