Montessori school organises activity for children at the President’s Village

To mark the end of Teacher’s Week the faculty at the Children’s House Montessori Pre-School visited the President’s Village where they organised activities for the children living there.

Speaking to the press, Lucy Barois, head teacher of the school, said that every year they try and do something positive in terms of giving back to the community and this year they decided to come to the President’s Village and share different activities with the children.

“I know that often they don’t get many visitors and their lives here can be very routine so we wanted to bring some fun and enjoyment to them,” she said.

The activities included sensory exploration with the younger children and science experiments with the older kids.

She explained that many years ago Montessori school partnered with the President’s Village where they took the children to the beach on Children’s Day.

“Each staff has their own expertise so it’s important that we share these expertise with others. The activity today also counts as a team building exercise for us as we have our teachers, teacher assistants and some members of our administrative team with us,” said Ms Barois.

On her part the village manager, Brigitte Balette, noted that when Montessori school contacted them for the visit, she welcomed the initiative.

She also added that based on the activity organised they will decide if there will be further partnership in the future.

The accompanying photos taken by our photographer Louis Toussaint show some highlights of the activities.
