As from today, Monday October 19, 2020, the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) will resume over-the-counter services that were suspended in March due to the Covid-19 situation.

Members of the public will be able to have access to the following services from 8.30am to 12.30pm between Monday to Friday:

• Exchange of demonetised Seychelles rupee banknotes

• Exchange of damaged or mutilated Seychelles rupee banknotes and coins

• Sale of commemorative coins, coin packs and currency booklets

• Coin collection exercise for individuals without a bank account

It is important to note that coins being presented for exchange should be sorted by denomination and more than 50 percent of a damaged banknote should be presented for it to be exchanged.

Customers will also be required to produce a valid passport or Seychelles identity card for all transactions.

Identification and employment details, and where applicable, source of funds, are among information that customers will need to provide on a form which they will need to fill before conducting any of the above-mentioned transactions. This is to comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Act, 2020.

The resumption of the stated over-the-counter services is being done with strict adherence to guidelines issued by the department of health. The temperature of all customers accessing the CBS banking hall will be checked upon entry and customers with a temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or above, will not be permitted to enter.

Customers accessing the banking hall will also have to wear a mask and will be directed to use hand sanitiser before and after conducting their transactions.

The CBS will continue to monitor the developments surrounding the Covid-19 situation and will revise and communicate any changes to its operations as and when the need arises.
