TGMI committed to boosting human resource capacity |30 October 2020

The Guy Morel Institute (TGMI) has said it is strongly committed to its mission of building the human resource capacity to support the transformation of the Seychelles workforce thus enhancing productivity.

The institute said this in a press release which comes amid the political transition that Seychelles has embarked on following the October 22-24, 2020 general elections.

The TGMI press release reads:

“As Seychelles goes through a peaceful political transition and the new president, Wavel Ramkalawan, forms a cabinet of ministers, the public service needs to reflect on its roles and responsibilities. Now is the time to further strengthen on the qualities of public service: professionalism, public administration expertise, flexibility, proactivity, pragmatism and innovativeness.

“Public servants serve the government of the day by supporting ministers/agencies in:

a)        Developing and advising on policy options and draft legislation;

b)        Implementing the government’s decisions, policies and programmes;

c)        Advocating for better policies and programmes to enhance the welfare of the citizens;

d)        Delivering quality services to the community; and

e)        Effectively managing the State’s resources, assets and finances.

“Employees in the public sector contribute greatly to ensuring that the citizens have trust in the sector and that they consider it to be reliable, efficient and competent. A professional, apolitical public service should be a major principle, and these underpinning principles notably require public servants to:

a)        Act professionally with honesty, consistency and with impartiality;

b)        Place the public interest over personal interest and personal agendas;

c)        Provide apolitical and non-partisan services; and

d)        Provide transparency to enable public scrutiny.

“As the main public service training arm of government of Seychelles, The Guy Morel Institute (TGMI) is mandated to provide learning courses & programmes, carry out research and consultancies, develop and build capacity, inform, promote behavioural change and importantly deliver a public service to a given sector which is considered important to the general community.

TGMI is strongly committed to its mission of building the human resource capacity to support the transformation of the Seychelles workforce thus enhancing productivity.”
