Nadia Richmond sentenced on three counts of drug-related offences

 

The Supreme Court on Friday November 13, 2020 sentenced Nadia, Rita Richmond, a 40-year-old female beach cleaner from the Anse Royale district, on three counts of drug-related offences.

On count 1 ‒ Possession with intent to traffic in a controlled drug, eighty-five (85) pills (39.30 grammes) of Methylenedioxy​methamphetamine (MDMA or Ecstasy), to a term of three months imprisonment suspended for two years.

On count 2 ‒ Trafficking in a controlled drug, a total of 8.91 grammes of heroin, to a term of 18 months imprisonment.

On count 3 ‒ Possession of a controlled drug, 0.90 grammes of herbal cannabis, to a term of two weeks imprisonment suspended for two months.

If effected, the two suspended sentences are to run concurrently.

Richmond was arrested by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) of the Seychelles Police Force at her home (Anse Royale) on August 14, 2019 when she was found in possession of the drugs.
