President Ramkalawan sends condolences |20 January 2021

On behalf of the government and the people of Seychelles, President Wavel Ramkalawan has extended his deepest condolences to the family, the St Joseph de Cluny congregation and the Roman Catholic Church following the passing of Sister Bernadette Yokowo.

Sister Bernadette passed away yesterday morning at the age of 77 years, having served as nun for 54 years during which she contributed significantly to the education sector in Seychelles.

Speaking of Sister Bernadette’s legacy, President Ramkalawan noted that she was much loved and had been an example of godly living to everyone.

“The country is proud to have had such a faithful Seychelloise taking her vows and serving her whole life,” said the president.

“She has contributed enormously to education development in Seychelles, and will be remembered for her humble service to the nation.”
