Passenger sustains minor injuries following accident at La Misère |22 January 2021

A passenger suffered minor injuries while the driver escaped unhurt after the pick-up truck they were in was involved in an accident at La Misère yesterday.

According to the driver, he was travelling from Port Glaud to Victoria when, after negotiating a bend at La Misère, an SPTC bus overtook his vehicle and in the process, collided with the rear part of the truck causing him (the truck driver) to lose control of the truck which hit an electric pole and landed in the gutter.

While the 59-year-old male truck driver came out of the accident unscratched, a 29-year-old male passenger of Grand Anse Mahé got stuck in the vehicle.

The Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency officers were called to assist in removing the victim who was later transported by ambulance to Seychelles Hospital for not too serious injuries sustained.

The removal of the truck caused some congestion on the La Misère road but traffic flow was back to normal after the salvage operation.

The police are investigating the incident reported at around 7.40am.
