Covid-19 Covishield vaccine joins the local mitigation campaign |26 January 2021

 

After nearly two weeks since the start of the national immunisation campaign in efforts to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid- 19) in the country, the Ministry of Health will today introduce another vaccine in its line of defence.

The AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine AZD1222 or Covishield as it marketed will join the existing BBIBP-CorV or SinoPharm Covid-19 Vaccine and will target citizens who are 60 years old and above.

The vaccine will be introduced locally today at five facilities, namely the International Conference Centre of Seychelles –ICCS, the Grand Anse Mahe District Administration Office, the Anse Royale District Administration Office, the Beau Vallon District Administration Office, the Baie Ste Anne Praslin District Administration Office (between 8am and 5pm), while the Yellow Roof Building will be offering the service from 8am to 12noon.

Meanwhile, the Covid SinoPharm vaccine will be administered between 1pm and 5pm at the Yellow Roof for staff of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA), while staff members from the La Retraite Primary, Anse Etoile Primary, Mont Mont Fleuri Primary and Secondary and the English River Secondary schools will receive their jabs between 8am and 5am at the Green Roof Building.
