According to data collected by the Ministry of Health, (February 19, 2021), a total of 21,599 people out of a population of 98,462 have taken their two doses of Covid-19 vaccination.
This represents 22% of the population.
From the latest report a total of 43,461 out of the targeted population of 70,000 have taken the first dose of the vaccines CoviShield and Sinopharm. This represents 62% of the targeted population. 21,599 have completed this process by getting their second jab which represents 31% of the targeted population.
The Ministry of Health is urging the population to be committed to the campaign and to come take their second dose.
Note that the CoviShield vaccine administration has moved to people aged 40 years and above. The Ministry of Health is advising and encouraging everyone who falls in that age category, be it in government employment or others, to go and get their first dose.
Note that the administration of the second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine is ongoing for all those who have been vaccinated before February 1. Yellow Roof is also administering second dose for those who have taken the first dose on February 2 as well.
The total number of people who have taken a first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine is 28,965 while 14,496 have taken the first dose of the CoviShield vaccine.
Meanwhile, in a bid to speed up completion of the vaccination course among the population, the Ministry of Health has moved appointment dates to administer the second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine a few days earlier and rescheduling the age of taking the Covishield vaccines.
The vaccination plan for today is as follows:
Sinopharm (second dose) :Green Roof Ministry of Health for all persons vaccinated on February 1; Yellow Roof Ministry of Health for all persons vaccinated on February 1 and 2; and Baie Ste Anne Praslin DA Office for all persons vaccinated on February 1. The administration of the vaccine is from 8am to 5pm at all the mentioned venues.
CoviShield (first dose) (All persons above 40 years): ICCS Victoria for Anse Etoile (8am – 10am); Perseverance (10am – 12 noon) and Mont Buxton (1pm – 5pm); Anse Royale DA Office for people from Takamaka (8am – 12 noon) and Baie Lazare (1pm to 5pm); Beau Vallon DA Office for Beau Vallon (8am – 12 noon) and Glacis (1pm – 5pm); Grand Anse Mahé DA office for people from Port Glaud (8am – 12 noon) and Grand Anse Mahé (1pm – 5pm).
