The Health Care Agency yesterday received a donation of 12 wheelchairs worth €6000 generously donated by Alfredo Pede and his family from Italy.

The wheelchairs were handed over to Dr Danny Louange, the chief executive of the Health Care Agency (HCA) by Mr Pede’s daughter, Camela Pede, in a short ceremony at the health ministry’s headquarters.

Present at the handover ceremony were the Minister for Health Jean-Paul Adam as well as officials and staff of the ministry and HCA.

It is the second time that the Pede family donate wheelchairs to the HCA.

They had previously donated 10 new wheelchairs to the North East Point Hospital in 2015.

Speaking on behalf of Camela Pede, Marie-Michelle Woodcock said that the Pede family have been visiting Seychelles for over 40 years and during their many times in the country noted a great necessity for wheelchairs.

“The wheelchairs come in different sizes to accommodate different persons,” she remarked.

According to the HCA, the wheelchairs will assist in creating a comfortable experience for patients and clients to the Seychelles Hospital.

On his part, Dr Louange said that the wheelchairs will become part of the equipment used to care for patients and is an essential part of the services HCA provides.
