Badminton - Alissen Camille cruises to quarterfinals |24 July 2019

Sportswoman of the Year Alissen Camille will be in action today in the quarterfinal of the women’s singles badminton competition of the 10th Indian Ocean Islands Games at the Centre de Badminton in Rose-Hill, Mauritius after winning her preliminary round matches yesterday.

In her first round match yesterday, Camille beat Shahurunaz Moosa of Maldives 2-0, while in her second match, she defeated Epiphanie Asminah of Madagascar by the same score.

In the women’s doubles, Camille will pair up with Danielle Jupiter to play against Maisa Ismail and Najeeb Neela of Maldives in the quarterfinal today.

Luo Xiang was also in action in the women’s singles and she lost her match 0-2 against Mathilde Lepetit of Reunion.

Danielle Jupiter lost her preliminary round match 0-2 against Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq of Maldives.

In the men’s singles, Steve Malcouzane lost 0-2 against Loïc Bertil of Reunion.

Kervin Ghislain was also in action and he lost his match 0-2 against Haja Vonjinirina of Madagascar. Jakim Renaud also lost his match 0-2 against Alexandre Bongout of Mauritius.

In the mixed-doubles, Danielle Jupiter and Kervin Ghislain lost to Vonjinirina and Razanamaly of Madagascar, while Irvin Bonté and Xiang Luo beat Nashfan Mohamed and Aminath Shahurunaaz of Maldives 2-0 in their first match. In their second encounter they lost to Arnaud Genin and Melodie Parrot of Reunion.

In the men’s doubles, Ghislain and Luo will play against Rasheed Mohamed and Shamiu Ibrahim of Maldives in today’s quarterfinals, while Malcouzane and Renaud will pair up to face Aatish Lubah and Julien Paul of Mauritius.
