| Karting: Cadet and Novice championship - 04.09.2008
Wins for Bonnelame and Mein DAMIEN Bonnelame (Cadet) and Arnold Mein (Novice) took wins in last weekend’s rounds of the karting championship at the Champions Park Raceway, Roche Caïman.
After dropping out of the first heat, Bonnelame bounced back in the second, which he won to make the final.
He drove a storming race after starting last on the grid and took the flag first after five laps in a time of 3 minutes 03.98 seconds to win round 10 of the Cadet championship.
He was followed by Montel Kutz (second), Dayne Ebrahim (third), Marvis Sophie (fourth), Alexander Camille (fifth after starting in pole position), Narajan Thereemojee (sixth), Mervin Serret (seventh) and Christian Bastienne (eighth).
Sophie leads the standings with 278 points. Ebrahim is second on 263 and Bonnelame third on 252.
Arnold Mein drove consistently in all three races to pick up maximum points for first place in the fifth round of the Novice class.
Michael Gédéon took a well-earned second place and Kiren Labrosse finished third. All three podium finishers are the smallest and youngest drivers in this category, which is a good lesson for their bigger rivals. The podium finishers showed them that consistency pays off in motor sport rather than just outright speeding.
In fourth place was Damien Hoareau, who took two wins but did not finish his first race. Christian Port-Louis was fifth overall after crashing out in his first race but took third place in the last event.
After Saturday’s event, Damien Hoareau still leads the championship with 128 points, followed by Kiren Labrosse (116), Gédéon (114), Shelton Vital, who was absent for the last race (113), Mein (105), Rico Tirant (75) and Port-Louis (52). |
