| Helicopter Seychelles flies injured tourist from Poivre - 23.11.2008
Helicopter Seychelles made its first trip to the outer islands recently when it flew an injured tourist from Poivre to get medical help on Mahe.
The airline’s captain and managing director Rick Dooley said the firm was alerted about the incident late on the evening of November 7.
The sole twin-engine in a fleet of five, the helicopter made a stop on Desroches to refuel before landing on Poivre an hour and 15 minutes later.

Mr Dooley said the twin-engine was bought to carry out extended over-water operations and did not need to stop on its way back to Mahe.
He told Nation the firm, helped by the Island Development Company (IDC), has been storing fuel on Desroches and Alphonse to cater for such trips. After this success, Helicopter Seychelles will continue to provide a stand-by service to the outer islands around the clock.
The trip to Poivre was captained by Mr Dooley himself, helped by a Seychellois.
The French tourist involved in the rescue mission had suffered a foot injury while island-hopping on a chartered boat trip. |
