| Seychelles’ tourism backs delivery of new tanker - 31.10.2009
Seychelles’ tourism made its presence felt at the official delivery of the country’s new tanker – the Seychelles Paradise – in Kiel, Germany, with a PR exercise to attract the affluent residents of that area.
Christine Vel, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s (STB) coordinator for the German market, had travelled to Germany to team up with Seychelles’ Frankfurt-based manager Edith Hunzinger and mount a publicity campaign for the occasion.
The campaign was organised in conjunction with the Seychelles Petroleum Company (Sepec) and the Lindenau shipyard.
“The tourism board wanted to use the opportunity of Seychelles taking over its latest ship as an occasion to tell the world that Seychelles existed and was on the move,” said Alain St Ange, the director of tourism marketing.

A number of journalists and tour operators from the Kiel, Hamburg, Dortmund and Essen areas were invited to come on board the environment-friendly tanker to cruise the Kiel Canal before the ship started its maiden voyage to Seychelles.
The STB felt this opportunity was too good to be missed because Seychelles needs to make itself more visible in that affluent part of Germany. Captain Guy Adam of Sepec and Mr St Ange addressed the visitors during the ceremony. |
