| Calling Jah makes international breakthrough - 04.09.2004
THE album Calling Jah by Ambitious is still a hit locally and is actually in fourth position among the best sellers. In Canada, Calling Jah has also featured on the chart. With mostly dancehall reggae songs, the most widely spoken dialect within the music industry, Calling Jah, which sends out messages of peace and love, reached number three on the Top Ten International Albums chart for the months of June and July in Canada.
Ambitious by stage name and in life Barry Barra must have realised part of his dream with the album Calling Jah, recorded under the label Explorer Music Group.
“I feel proud, but I’m not the kind of person who let a little fame go to my head,” Ambitious told Weekend Nation.
The number one album at that time on the Top Ten International Albums chart was Riddim Driven: Tiajuana, a compilation of various artists. In second place was The Other Side by Lucky Dube.
True Love by Toots and The Maytals was sixth, Open The Door by Gregory Isaacs seventh and Good 2 Go by Elephant Man eighth.
