International choreographers share skills with local dancers |21 August 2013

Two international choreographers are in the country to take part in this year’s Biennale des danses.

Biennale is a dance exhibition held every two years in Seychelles to give international exposure to local dancers and choreographers.
It is a cultural exchange which gives local and international performers a chance to share their experiences and skills.

The choreographers are leading a dance workshop at the School of Dance since Monday for a group of local dancers.
The 10-day workshop, hosted by the School of Dance, is aimed at equipping the dancers with the latest choreography skills and techniques.

With the skills gained, the dancers will take part in a show to be held at the International Conference Centre on September 1, where they will be able to showcase what they have learned.
Tickets for the show cost R75 and are on sale at the School of Dance, Mont Fleuri and at the National Arts Council.

The dancers were introduced with the two choreographers − Refiloe Mogoje from Cape Town, South Africa and Didier Boutiana from Reunion – during a short briefing session at the school prior to the start of the workshop.

The workshop kicked off with a warm-up session by Didier Boutiana before the dancers began their intensive choreography course.
After completing the workshop, all those who have taken part will receive a certificate.
