Cerf Island Resort celebrates 10th Anniversary |11 September 2013

Business partners of the travel trade and other guests gathered Friday evening at the Cerf Island Resort to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Owner Vijay Patel welcomed guests to the resort by tracing back its milestone before the resort became what it is today.  The resort started as 5 two-bedrooms self-catering villas initiated by Glenny Savy and some South African partners.  It was in 2000 that work started to convert it into a hotel.
It took much work and many obstacles to overcome before the present 24 villas materialised.

“I wish to thank all from the travel industry for their continued support as well as all the staff who have been working here at the resort, some even as long as the 10 years we are celebrating today. I hope that with your continued support we will do even better in the future,” said Mr Patel.

On his part, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St Ange, extended his congratulation on behalf of the government of Seychelles to the Patel family on the anniversary of the resort.  Minister St Ange pointed out that this is a big step to have made such a milestone and that they have surely made their mark in the tourism industry.

General manager Piergiorgio Secchi pointed out that the resort received the Excellence Certificate for 2013 in April.

“We thrive on customer feedback to improve our services hence our occupancy in the hotel as well.  The services provided is reflected through the feedback we get when the customers go back home, which are all good,” said Mr Secchi.

He also pointed out that they have had their share of setbacks due to the world crisis from which Seychelles was no exception. “However we keep our services of high quality to keep on attracting tourists to the resort, and we improve when or if there is a need to improve,” added Mr Secchi.

Long serving restaurant manager Georgette Otieno Agripine who has been working with the resort said that she enjoys her work immensely as there is support to help all staff move forward.  She started as a waitress then supervisor and to date restaurant manager.
