Public and private sectors support Clean Up the World campaign |19 September 2013



Several organisations from the public and private sectors have brought forward their contributions for this year’s Clean Up the World campaign.

The handing over of these donations was held at the Ministry of Environment and Energy’s offices at Le Chantier Mall yesterday.

Representatives of these organisations handed over their contributions to the Minister for Environment and Energy Professor Rolph Payet, who in turn thanked them for giving a helping hand in this year’s campaign.

Prof. Payet said cleaning up is important and should be part of our daily lives as it is what keeps us and our environment healthy.
He added that we must keep our beautiful country clean and maintain the standards that we have.

Among the donations for the campaign are gunny bags, T-shirts, drinks and snacks, fruit plants, energy saver bulbs, caps, gloves, masks, cash, transportation, Creole lunch buffet, fuel coupons and free airtime.
This year’s Clean Up the World campaign will be held from September 20-22 under the theme Mon Sesel sa, netway li. Activities will include cleaning of various places, tree planting and award ceremonies on Mahé and Praslin for people who have helped to maintain the cleanliness of districts.

Organisations which have made these donations are the Seychelles Trading Company,
State Assurance Corporation of Seychelles, Seychelles Public Transport Corporation, Seychelles People’s Defence Forces, Seychelles Postal Services, Banyan Tree Seychelles, Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, Seychelles National Park Authority and Les Dauphins Heureux Restaurant.

Others are WaterLoo Factory, Gondwana granite, Seychelles Agricultural Agency, Sustainability for Seychelles, Stone Mill Bakery, Food Pro, Victoria South Petrol Station, Indian Ocean Tuna Limited, Mohan Shopping Centre, H. Savy Insurance, Gerry Joseph, Public Utilities Corporation, JK Enterprise,
SAMLO n Sons, Seychelles Breweries Limited and GMA Stationery Shop.
