Winners of essay, poster competitions rewarded |20 January 2005
Through the competitions, which was divided into primary and secondary school categories, the students had the opportunity to reflect on the importance of Rotary, how it can influence the community and how they would like to see the organisation in ten years from now.
Saurubh Vishwakarma from the International School was the grand winner of the essay competition in the primary category. The second prize went to Jigme Tsultin from Anse Boileau.
In the secondary school category Lyane Aglaé from Plaisance took home the first prize while Geetha Chetty from Independent School received the second prize.
In third position was Malshini Senaratne from Anse Boileau.
In the poster competition for primary school, Yannick Pool of Anse Etoile was the winner. Nathaniel Bacco from Cascade won the second prize while the third prize went to Kavinya Karunakaran from Beau Vallon.
Andy Bibi and Doreen Anacoura from English River Secondary School won the first and second prizes respectively in the poster competition for their category. The third prize went to Sheryl Fanchette from Beau Vallon.
Nathalie Duval from English River won the special commendation prize for entering the competition with the most entries.
The essay and poster competition was part of the activities organised to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the International Rotary Club which will be celebrated next month.
