Advertorial-Digital Cable TV in Seychelles |14 February 2005
In the past Seychelles has been hampered by a lack of modern technology in providing quality cable TV entertainment as Cable TV has been mainly through various analog systems. With the introduction of digital modulation, Intelvision, using breakthrough technology, will give you better picture and sound quality, a wider choice of channels and not least provide a foolproof encryption system, Irdeto Conditional Access (CA), to protect content from the fallbacks of unauthorized viewing. Unauthorized viewing has the potential to cause many unwanted annoyances to authorized users such as poor quality reception and complete loss of signal.
Intelvision has capitalized on the expertise of South African based DSTV in the implementation of this project. DSTV has a customer base in excess of 1.3 million subscribers, an indication of its huge popularity in and around the African continent.
In addition Intelvision will supplement the DSTV bouquet with further channels which will deliver a wide degree of Television entertainment to satisfy the diverse age and ethnic mix of Seychelles. Intelvision will distribute all services using a Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) cable network. The HFC cable network will allow Intelvision to realize the huge potential of broadband services due to the vast availability of bandwidth.
A point to be stressed is the difference between Cable TV and Satellite TV. Satellite TV comes at a heavy initial cost since it incorporates a lot more hardware. Cable TV on the other hand is a house to house distribution system via cable that takes away the cost as well as the hassle of installing dishes, antennae and other hardware.
Another point of difference is the decoder. Since unauthorized viewing can cause immense hindrance to authorized subscribers and even transmission failure, it is vital that transmissions be covered by an encryption or content security system. For this purpose Intelvision employs Irdeto CA, a world leader in content security systems. Irdeto has a proven track record providing various companies around the world with the latest state of the art content security system solutions.
The two main and unique features on the decoder sold by Intelvision are the digital modulation, called QAM 64, and its Irdeto CA encryption system. The combination of such high quality hardware and upgradeable software in one decoder is not only rare but rates the Intelvision decoder at the top of its range. The exact model of the decoder is “CDVBC5120” and it is manufactured by COSHIP, a market leader in decoder manufacture. Only a decoder with the similar model and features would be compatible for services of Intelvision.
This latest technology ensures that the current decoder will stay in use for a long time. In order for the decoders to be compatible with the new generation transmission systems, the decoders must feature QAM demodulation, cable TV frequency reception and Irdeto CA encryption version 1.1, release 3. The Coship software version is CDVBC5120 V4.11 and firmware version is 1.1. Although customers have the choice to select their own decoders, Intelvision will not be held liable for any loss of service or quality due to non-supported decoder selection. The only decoder supported by Intelvision currently is the Coship (CDVBC 5120).
Intelvision has a world class management team with direct knowledge of the industry, extensive research experience and unique administration skills. Intelvision’s focus will be on distribution of high quality television entertainment, offering a substantial and diverse range of channels to satisfy people of all cultures.
