Football: Cosafa Castle Cup-South Africa edge Mauritius to win group A |01 March 2005

The Bafana Bafana are through to the next round thanks to a 36th minute goal from a free-kick scored by Katlego Mphela who plays for Racing Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1.

Mphela, it is to note, scored twice on his debut for South Africa in his team’s 3-0 win over Seychelles last Saturday.
Mauritius beat Madagascar 2-0 in Saturday’s second fixture to progress to Sunday’s final.

Group A winners South Africa will now wait for the winners of groups B and C to know their opponents in the mini-tournament final in August. Defending champions Angola are through to the final.

The other two finalists will be decided in Namibia in April and in Zambia in June.
