Football-Airtel Cup finals postponed to June 19, Anse Réunion win third place play-off |13 June 2005
Both matches had been scheduled for last Saturday at Stad Linite.
The SFF has announced that the finals will now be played on Sunday June 19 at the same venue.
The women’s final is between defending champions Dolphins and Olympia Coast at 2.30 p.m. and the men’s match will pit Red Star and reigning champions St Michel in an Anse Aux Pins derby at 4.30 p.m.
Meanwhile, in the men’s third place play-off match on Saturday, Anse Réunion, who got two goals from Malagasy Firinga Fahidany and Seychelles striker Yelvanny Rose, defeated La Passe 4-2 in a La Digue derby played at the island’s playing field.
Malagasy Fahidany opened the scoring for Anse Réunion but La Passe, missing key players like Tanzanian Salum Kinje, Malagasy Eric ‘Didy’ Rajaobery and Jonathan Bibi, equalised through Mervyn Uranie and Ugandan Jimmy Kidega gave them the lead at 2-1 at half-time.
After play resumed, Yelvanny Rose scored twice to give Anse Réunion the lead at 3-2 and Fahidany made sure of the win with his second personal goal and his team’s fourth.
