Kestrels adopt new school |12 September 2005
For some years a pair of Seychelles kestrels nested in the eaves of that building.
The cold store was demolished to make way for the new school and the kestrels lost their nest site. The new building has two dormer “windows” on the main roof which provided a suitable place in which to attach nest-boxes. Silhouette Island Resort, which paid for the school, IDC, the headmaster and NPTS all agreed that the kestrels should be provided with new “modern” accommodation.
The kestrels have adopted one of the boxes and on September 8, laid a first egg. Just in time for the new term!
