Bodybuilding: Mr Universe 2005-Stiff competition keeps local bodybuilders out of top-10 |03 December 2005

Seychelles Amateur Bodybuilding Association (Sabba) chairperson Marcel Ally, who headed the local delegation to the annual contest, told Sports Nation in a telephone conversation that “competition was a high level among bodybuilders from 154 countries.”

In the lightweight (70-kg) category, Jacques-Alain Hoareau finished 17th out of 20 contestants. Slovenian Igor Kocis won this category ahead of runner Kamil Majek of Poland and third-placed Samar Sarabi Sohrab of Iran.

Mr Seychelles 2005 Derrick Dogley was the best local muscleman at the competition and he was ranked 18th out of 24 participants in the light middleweight (80-kg) category won by Spanish Arturo Castaneda Cid.

Thai Siithi Charoenrith was second and Slovenian Juraj Vrábal third.

Competing in the middleweight (85-kg) division, Nano Camille was placed 17th out of 20 competitors.

Qatari Kamal Abdul Salam was first, Italian Giampiero Cataldi second and Brazilian Edson Serafim third.

Seychelles’ fourth bodybuilder at the competition, Regis Delorié competed in the light heavyweight (90-kg) division and finished 22nd among 24 participants.

Ali Tabrizi of Qatar finished at the top of this division ahead of Egyptian El Shahat Saad Mabrouk (runner) and Polish Robert Piotrkowicz (third place finisher).

German Dennis Wolf, winner of the heavyweight (90-kg) category, also won the biggest prize – the Mr Universe title.

Slovenia finished as the best team followed in second and third places by Egypt and Italy.
Sabba treasurer Golbert Nicette also accompanied the local bodybuilders to the Mr Universe contest held from November 23 to 28.
