Hotel thanks staff for long service |14 January 2006
The hotel management handed out over R20,000 and a range of other prizes to tourism industry veterans, some of whom have been with the Coco de Mer since it opened 15 years ago.
A total of 46 members of staff were reward for their long service at the hotel and for not taking sick leave over the course of the year.
“It has become an annual event, a motivation for staff for achieving certain targets,” said the Coco de Mer’s Human Resources Manager Doreen D’Suza.
She said that such long service is a rarity in the hotel industry citing the number of hotels offering employment and a shortage of qualified staff as the reason many hotel workers transfer between establishments.
Mrs D’Suza said that small incentives, such as the long service recognition, have helped the Coco de Mer retain its employees.
“The staff are more happy to continue working at the hotel,” she said.
