Football: African clubs competitions-SMB and La Passe ready for return legs |01 March 2006

Both SMB and La Passe will, this coming weekend, play their preliminary round return leg matches of the African Confederation Cup and African Champions League.

The home leg encounters were played two weekends ago at Stad Linite.

La Passe played a goalless draw in the African Champions League. A draw with goals scored or a win will see them through to the first round. In the event of another goalless draw, the winners will be decided on a penalty shootout.

As for SMB, who are making their debut in Africa, their task is even harder after their 0-2 loss to Township Rollers. Striker Moemedi Moatilaping scored both goals for Township Rollers.

SMB will have to win by a three-goal margin against the ‘Mighty Blues’ if they want to move on in the competition.

Both teams warmed up for the return matches in contrasting styles last weekend in the ongoing fourth edition of the Airtel Cup. La Passe got goals from Jean-Paul Marguerite and Rick Bibi in a 2-1 home win over Red Star, while SMB were hammered 0-6 by last year’s losing finalists St Michel.
