Petanque: Triplette Competition-Positions remain unchanged after second round of matches |04 April 2006
In the men's league, Douglas Green together with Leslie and Desire Low-Toy are still leading the table with 18 points. On Sunday the trio lost their first match in the competition, when they were beaten 11 - 13 by Roland Renaud, Joseph Sinon, and Gianni Ceccato who are occupying the second position with 14 points.
Green's team won their other matches 13-6, 13-5, 13-1 and 13-11, while Renaud Team lost two matches 4-13 and won the other three 13-8, 13-11, 13-12.
Third position is being occupied by Joseph Charles, Auguste Louise, Vincent Luther and Joseph Cesar with 10 points. They won two matches 13-11 and 13-3 and lost the others 12-13, 11-13 and 7-13.
Bernard and Benny Chang-Time, Julien Ernest and Antonio Gopal are occupying fourth position with 8 points. They lost two matches 11 - 13 and 5-13 and won three others 13-7, 13-1 and 13-4. Collin Esparon, Ranga Chetty and Barnsley Merlon won three matches 13-11, 13 - 4, and 13 - 7 but lost two matches 6 13 and 11-13. They have six points and are fifth on the table.
In sixth position with four points are Antoine Botsoie, Andrew Roberts and Philipe Adeline. They lost all of their matches 8-11, 1 -13, 3- 13 and 1-13.
In the women's league things are still pretty close. Linda Sinon, Virna Fanny, and Marie-May Savy are still occupying the first position with six points.
They won their second match 13-5 and lost the first one 12-13 to Livia Sinon, Sheila Chang-Time and Rachel Mangroo who are in third position with two points.
Sinon and company lost their second match 9-13. Xianne and Dorothy Joubert, Janet Pierre and Vivianne Finesse are in second position with four points after winning one match 13-9 and losing the second 5-13.
According to the Chairman of the Seychelles Petanque Association it is the first time that they organise Triplette competitions for ladies.
"Two Reunion clubs are coming to Seychelles from June 22 to 26, we have the World Championship in September and the Indian Ocean Island Games next year. In all those competitions we have triplette event which is more difficult than the doublette, so we are competing in the triplette as training for those competition that are coming up," he said.
In the junior league which is being played as a doublette competition, brothers Fabien and Nicholas Chang-Time lost their first match 11-13 their first defeat since the beginning of the competition. They won the others 13-5, 13-2 and 13-1 to lead the table with 14 points.
Marcus and Mario Emilien are second with ten points after winning 5 matches and losing three.
Third place is being occupied by Joshua Adeline and Julius Simeon with eight points. Sheena Mangroo and Marius Sinon who were the ones to beat the leaders are in fourth position with eight points.
James and Jude Ernesta have not won a match yet and they are in fifth position.
The next round of matches will be held on April 23.
