Handball: Men’s and Ladies’ League championship-Victory for leaders AC Sisters and PLS Hurricanes |17 May 2006
Last Saturday at the Palais des Sports, AC Sisters took a 14-8 first half lead and continued on the same momentum in the second period to win the match 27-18.
AC Sisters’ Diana Estico was the game’s top scorer with nine goals, one more than the total of Geneviève Corgate of PLS Hurricanes Sisters.
AC Sisters lead the six-team table with nine points after playing three matches. Arsu are second with six points and have a match in hand. PLS Hurricanes Sisters are in third position with four points after a win and a loss.
Mont Fleuri are fourth with two points, while defending champions Super Teens, formerly Anse Boileau, are fifth with one point after losing their only match played.
Trinity are carrying the weight of the table with one point.
In a men’s match played the same day, PLS Hurricanes continued their march towards reclaiming their League title with a 37-33 win over Reborn.
With nine points after three wins in as many games played to lead the standings, PLS Hurricanes led 18-13 at half-time.
Despite Reborn losing for the second time to hold fifth place on the table, marksman Cyril Freminot came out as the game’s top scorer with 13 goals. Bradley Stravens was Hurricanes’ top scorer with 11 goals.
Super 8s and AC Brothers are second and third respectively with four points each, but the former have a better goal difference of +8 compared to the latter’s 0.
Defending champions Durantha Brothers are in fourth place with three points and LMS Silver Star are sixth with two points.
Six teams are competing in both the men’s and women’s league. Teams are awarded three points for a victory and one point even though they lose a match.
