Festival of Classical Music-Official opening tonight |27 May 2006

Prior to this evening’s grand show, two Chamber concerts were held this week at the Plantation Club Resort, where the majority of the 70 overseas musicians taking part in the festival are staying.

The first Chamber concert took place on Tuesday night during which 12 international soloists performed a range of classical Chamber music pieces. This was followed on Thursday by a second similar concert at the same venue.

Next Tuesday, an Opera Gala Concert will be given at the Plantation Club, followed by an Orchestral Concert on Wednesday and the Festival closing concert on Friday.

The musicians will also travel to La Digue tomorrow, where they will perform at the island’s church.

The Festival of Classical Music, a biennial event, is this year celebrating its tenth year and fifth staging.
