Karting : Round 9-Winners extend lead |11 August 2006
Leaders of the formula A Dave and his daughter Liza Rene were vulnerable to defeat on Sunday after they had chosen to run on rebuilt engines, but the opposition failed to take advantage of the situation with only Roland Delcy standing up to the challenge.
The Renes eventually fought it out between themselves in the final as Dave gained the upper hand over Liza to win, with Delcy taking third place.
Last Sunday’s results means the championship is developing into a two-horse race but nonetheless all still depend on the Renes’ ability to remain dominant throughout the rest of the season.
In the juniors class, Marc Delcy went unchallenged for an easy victory over Stephen Simon, who was second and Hendrick Payet, who came out third. Marc has 146 points and has extended his lead over Ian Confiance (133 points) by 13 points.
Confiance was fourth on Sunday.
As a result of his second place finishing on Sunday, Simon moves to third position in the championship with 128 points, ahead of Marlon Panagary who totals 125 points.
Although gaining some valuable points on Sunday, Payet languishes in fifth place with 119 points due to some absences in earlier races.
Zayn Ebrahim completely demolished the field in the final for the cadets, winning the race nearly half a lap ahead of Christian Moise, who finished second. The win moves Ebrahim to second place in the cadet class with 140 points, just ten fewer than current leader Andrew Gabriel, who finished in fourth position in round nine. Moise is third on 136 points and Franchisco Thirimoody, who took a fine third place on Sunday, holds the fourth position with 117 points.
It is all very tight in the class and any one of the top four could steal the championship.
Dayn De Commarmond took a first victory in the novice class in the third round race that took place two weekends ago. Fisal Moustache was second and Ian Denis third.
