Barclays University launched |11 November 2006

According to a communiqué from the bank, this facility offers choice and access and is also about empowering the staff by providing them with the opportunity to learn from a variety of modules from foreign languages to leadership and business.

“Staff can follow these to better define their own career direction and to achieve professional aspirations,” says the communique.

According to the communiqué this learning approach has e-learning points for individual study and on-site support and advice from Barclays University learning advisors.

Employees can learn when it suits them, meaning that the facility will be accessible throughout the day and they can sign in for half an hour or more when they have free time, says the communiqué.

There is also a library service through which employees can obtain learning material and access vast resources.

“As a business we realize that learning is critical to our success and this is why we are continuing to provide our staff with a range of opportunities to enhance their personal development,” says the bank’s managing director Frank Hoareau.
