Football: Administration course-Local club managers upgrade their level |20 November 2006

SFF chairman Patel speaks to the participants

The course was officially opened on Friday by the chairman of the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Suketu Patel, in the presence of other senior members of the federation. During the opening ceremony, those present viewed a documentary produced by Fifa Futbol Mundial filmed here in October this year. It highlights the development and progress made in Seychelles’ football. Fifa Futbol Mundial brings football stories from all over the world to its audience of over 400 million people in roughly 120 countries.

Throughout the three-day course, the participants were presented with various key elements which are necessary in the proper management and administration of a football club. Statutes which incorporate the constitution and sets of guidelines, the history of the Confédération Africaine de Football (Caf), the general organisation of football, the organisation of the SFF, the management of clubs, laws of the game and finance were some of the various areas covered during the course.

Georges Bibi, one of the course facilitators along with Dolor Ernesta, was satisfied with the turnout and he explained that due to the fact that there are a lot of areas to be covered, the course has been structured into different parts. Last weekend’s session was the first part.

After having covered the whole programme through the different courses that will be organised, the managers will receive certificates endorsed by the Fédération internationale de football (Fifa) and Caf.

It is to note that the SFF decided earlier this year that by the start of the 2007 season all club managers, coaches and medical officers must have followed the courses being organised by the local football body.

Those who haven’t will not be allowed to be involved with any of the teams registered with the SFF.
