Discover the essence of salsa at Pepe’s this weekend |27 April 2007

This will happen at the Pepe Discotheque as of tonight when a visiting group from England, ‘Salsa in Hotels’, will strut their stuff for those who enjoy this kind of dance.

During their stay, they will also give dance lessons to those who are up to the task and keen to learn.

Those who miss the opportunity to watch tonight’s performance will be provided with a second one tomorrow night at the same place when the group, which comprise two male lead dancers, Taiwo and Christiano, will again display the vim and vigor of salsa dancing.

In a bid to bring the event closer to town, a third show is in the works for Monday night at the Lovenut Discotheque, but this has yet to be confirmed according to the two dance maestros.

Speaking during an interview yesterday with Seychelles Nation, the two salsa dance specialists explained that both shows at Pepe’s will first feature exhibition dance, followed by dance lessons for up to an hour between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. A disc jockey (deejay) colleague of theirs, ‘Homeboy from London’, will afterwards entertain the guests until the early hours of the morning.

Tickets for each show cost SR100 apiece and ‘Salsa in Hotels’ said that 10% of the proceeds from the shows will be given to charity, pointing out that they’ve already agreed to donate the money to the local association for the hearing-impaired.
