CWS, Intelvision set up IP Interconnect Link |08 May 2007
According to a joint communiqué from the two companies, establishing an IP Interconnect Link between the two internet service providers involved putting into place a direct link between their networks using “high-quality, industry-standard fibre-optic cable”.
With this link, local data between Atlas and Intelvision subscribers can now be exchanged directly from network to network at a greater speed, says the communiqué.
“By sending local Seychelles traffic along this link instead of via international networks, customers of Atlas and Intelvision can now experience improved network to network
e-mail and local Seychelles website browsing,” adds the communiqué.
Trishend Kambaran, chief executive of Intelvision and Charles Hammond, chief executive of CWS and a director of Atlas, both believe that the internet link is a move in the right direction for the Seychelles. In a joint statement they say:
“CWS-Atlas and Intelvision continue to invest in internet services in the Seychelles. Establishing the IP Interconnect Link between Atlas and Intelvision is designed to allow increased efficiency and speed of access by customers of Atlas and Intelvision to Atlas- and Intelvision-hosted websites and e-mail. CWS-Atlas and Intelvision look forward to continuing to invest in the quality of services available for their respective network customers and we believe that helping to improve the speed of local Seychelles internet traffic is a large step in the right direction that all internet service providers (ISPs) are working towards. Last year, Intelvision made a similar announcement concerning Intelvision’s IP Interconnection Link with another local ISP.
“The CWS-Atlas and Intelvision IP Interconnect Link is an example of effective collaboration and builds on the investments made by CWS and Intelvision to link up our voice networks for voice calls, an initiative which also took place successfully last year.”
