Employment Department goes online |19 May 2007

According to the department’s Information Technology (IT) manager, Evans Delcy, the new website has been launched as the first phase of a major project by the department called the Labour Market Information System (LMIS). This project is expected to be fully completed in December this year.

The website, which can be accessed at (http://employment.gov.sc), was developed by officers of the Department of Employment and others from the Department of Information Technology and Communication (DITC).

It provides a number of information aimed at employers, employees, local and expatriate job seekers.

“Job seekers can now avoid the hassle of queuing up at the employment bureau. Instead, they will now be able to go to the website and download a vacancy list where they will be able to contact the sector advertising the vacancy and apply for the post online,” Mr Delcy said.

The vacancy list will be updated every week in order to provide up to date information to  interested users.

In addition, visitors to the website will be able to know more about the Employment Department including its vision and mission, strategies, policies as well as health and safety matters and legislation concerned with employment in Seychelles.

Two divisions of the department also feature on the website namely the Labour Relations Division and Employment Promotion Division.

Many forms ranging from Vacancy Notification Forms to Accident Forms can be downloaded from the website.
