Anse Aux Pins pupils adopt Au Cap’s Home for the Elderly

Recently, it was the turn of Au Cap district to officially launch the adoption of its Home for the Elderly by primary six pupils of Anse Aux Pins School.

This took place at the home during a ceremony attended by the director general of Community Development, Dan Frichot and the director of the Homes for the Elderly, Roger Alphonse.

Also present was the district’s administrator (DA), Doris Marengo; parish priest Father Lonnie Adrienne; residents of the home and the pupils of Anse Aux Pins Primary School accompanied by their teachers.

In his address for the occasion, Mr Alphonse explained that the concept of the adoption of the homes is not to get children to do the work that should be done by the employees of these homes. Instead it provides children with the opportunity to learn more from the older generation as well as to share new ideas with them.

He said that this exchange will benefit both the children and the elderly.

On her part the head teacher of the school, Sylvette Joubert, thanked the Ministry of EAlisen Naiken reads out the pledge on behalf of her school mates ducation for initiating the adoption of the homes.

One of the pupils, Alisen Naiken, read out the pledge on behalf of all her school mates. 
Afterwards, Father Lonnie led the seniors and the children in prayer.

To wrap up the ceremony, the pupils entertained the guests and residents of the foyer with songs and dance.
