Gold medals at All Africa Games-Historic achievement |21 July 2007
Meggy Gertrude led the way when she got the firs
t one through sailing, and the Juliette Ah-Wan/Georgie Cupidon team followed with their win in badminton.
Their victory is a very good example for all Seychellois youth.
This is a moment of pride for all of us and we thank them for the honour they have brought us.
Of course we have won gold in other international sports, but the fact that we are conquering new territory further adds to the testimony that all the investment that our government has made in training, infrastructure and other forms of support do pay dividends.
One needs to remember that our population is small and we in our thousands compete against millions, but the fact that we still triumph shows that we have the necessary foundations to achieve anything in the world and in any area, not just in sports.
That granted, each of us should strive to set and reach new horizons, because we can do it, together for the love of Seychelles.
