Public and developers discuss Ile Aurore project

Among those present were the Leader of the Opposition, Wavel Ramkalawan, who is the Member of the National Assembly for Anse Etoile, and environment conservationists.

Issues discussed included how the project is likely to impact the environmMr McStay responding to residents’ concernsent, for example through the discharge of highly saline water from its desalination plant.

They also wanted to know if the amount of fertilizers that will be used to keep the project’s golf course green is likely to cause pollution, and what amenities the residents will have along with their chances of getting not just lowly paid jobs but others in management.

Among those present to respond to the concerns were Lance Kinnear, a director of Pinnacle Holdings, the company behind the project and Jon McStay from an international independent environmental and engineering consultants’ firm.

They said that none of the concerns raised were insurmountable, saying for example that the desalination plant will be quite small compared with others in the world, and that care will be taken to locate the discharge outlets where there will be adequate sea currents for the salt to have no significant effect.

Mr Kinnear said that the proposed establishment is unlikely to be full throughout the year and it will therefore offer ample opportunities for Seychellois to enjoy it, noting that there will be no discrimination even during high peak periods, for any clients will be attended to on a first come first served basis.

When completed, the Ile Aurore Project will comprise an 18-hole golf course, 144 luxury villas, 90 condominiums, a casino, a five-star hotel and a waterfront marina.
