Football: Land Marine Cup-La Passe tear apart Arsu |09 October 2007

The gulf in difference between the two teams was reflected in the result as Ugandan Jimmy Kidega opened the floodgates in the third minute.

Tanzanian Rashid Gumbo Mohammed made it 2-0 in the 29th minute. La Passe’s third foreign player on the pitch, Ghanaian Appiah Kwasi, compounded the misery of goalkeeper Jim Landry as he added a third goal in the 36th minute.

Arsu’s only real chance in the first half fell to Ruddy Gendron in the 12th minute but his shot came off one of La Passe’s goalie Vincent Euphrasie’s posts.

Arsu held on early in the second period, but it was again Kidega who increased the lead with his second of the match in the 65th minute.

A minute later, young Rick Bibi scored La Passe’s fifth goal and Arsu had not recovered when Melvin Uranie made it 6-0 in the 67th minute.

In the 75th minute, Rick Bibi completed his brace with his team’s seventh goal. Defender Pierre Fanchette also got on the score-sheet in the 81st minute (8-0) as La Passe showed no mercy for their weaker opponent.

In the 82nd minute, Ghanaian Hoffman Omonk, who had come on as a substitute, scored to make it 9-0 before Corentino Bibi closed the scoring with his team’s 10th goal in the 86th minute.

La Passe’s emphatic victory is the biggest in this tournament so far this season and now they await the winners of the Red Star/Anse Réunion clash.
