Appropriation Bill, 2008-R1.5 billion budget proposed for 2008 |30 November 2007

The national budget for 2008, which was published in a supplement of the Official Gazette dated Tuesday November 27, 2007 will amount to R1,512,726,000.

The Budget, which is expected to be read on December 14, represents an increase of R33,640,000 over the approved figure for this year which was R1,479,086,000.

The Ministry of Heath & Social Development, which has been allocated R219,963,000 will get the lion’s share of the budget.

The Ministry of Education has been allocated the second highest amount, R195,926,000, followed by the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources & Transport with R117,936,000.
