Karate-Philip Philoé and Ju-jitsu lose appeal |01 March 2008
The decision to expel the Ju-jitsu karate school came about after some members of the federation said that Philip Philoé had made a false statement when he allegedly said he has five dans. The federation had also summoned the school in 2007 to retract the fact its chief, Philip Philoé, is a fifth dan black belt holder.
The board of appeal met with Philip Philoé on Wednesday February 20 to listen to his appeal pursuant to Article 13 of the SKF Constitution.
In a press release sent to Sports Nation, it is written that during the appeal, Mr Philoé stated that he does not possess the rank – fifth dan black belt – when questioned by members of the board of appeal.
The press release added that Mr Philoé later changed his version of the story, saying he possesses the rank in Ju-jitsu, but he did not present to the board any certificate to prove that he holds such rank.
It is also written in the press release that Mr Philoé presented to the board of appeal a letter in which it was written that his school is resigning from the SKF. Thus, the board of appeal concluded that a school who has been expelled as a member of the SKF cannot resign as it is no longer a member.
