Handball: National League-Rybar trounce PLS Hurricanes Sisters to retain title

In an action-packed match, Rybar’s Leona Zacek and Maureen Auguste were yellow-carded early on despite their team’s total domination due to a rock-solid defence. They won the first half 14-2.

PLS Hurricanes Sisters’ coach Michel Kilindo changed his team’s playing tactics in the second half and his players scored nine goals, compared to Rybar’s 16.

Rybar’s Vanessa ‘Venos’ Barbé netted seven goals to finish as the match’s top scorer, while PLS Hurricanes got four from Dania Estico.

Rybar have retained the Women’s league title

The win was Rybar’s 10th in as many matches, meaning they have finished the league championship unbeaten, while PLS Hurricanes Sisters won seven.

In the Men’s league, inexperienced APC Brothers did not allow defending champions PLS Hurricanes to walk all over them, despite losing 30-47.

Led by coach/player Tony Hortère, APC Brothers gave a debut to some new recruits and seeing this, PLS Hurricanes took the match lightly.

The score at half-time was 25-17 in the favour of the champions, who got eight goals from three players – Curtis Esther, Roberto Esther and Elvis Leopold. Hortère was the game’s best marksman with 14 goals.

In another men’s match on Friday, Duranta Brothers walked over ABS Kings.
