James Bond sails into Seychelles with Sunseeker |08 November 2008
And appearing in a cameo role in the film is the managing director of luxury motor yacht company Sunseeker Indian Ocean, which has just opened for business here.
The company, which is the distributor in Seychelles for Sunseeker International of the UK, will host the invitation-only premiere at the Deepam Cinema, Docklands, on Saturday November 15.
The public will have the chance to see the movie at a later date.
Distinguished guests invited to the premiere include President James Michel, Vice-President Joseph Belmont, government ministers and ambassadors of the UK, China and Russia.
A speech recorded by Robert Braithwaite, Sunseeker International’s managing director, will be relayed to the audience during the Seychelles premiere.
Mr Braithwaite appears in Quantum of Solace as a speedboat captain aboard a Sunseeker with 007 actor Daniel Craig.
This is the fourth consecutive time the firm’s yachts have appeared in a James Bond release, and Mr
Braithwaite’s appearance in the first boat he ever built is an example of how the company has grown over the past 35 years.
A part of Sunseeker’s proud history will also appear in the movie, when one of its very first open-cockpit speedboats is used to transport James Bond. Built in 1970, the Sunseeker Sovereign 17 was fully restored in 2005 to celebrate the firm’s long history of designing and building luxury motor yachts.
Seychelles is the first Indian Ocean country where Sunseeker has started operations, and the company has plans for further investments here.
