Chance to learn about orchids |11 November 2008

Organised by the Plant Conservation Action Group, the talk will be presented at the National Institute of Education auditorium, Mont Fleuri, at 3pm by South African expert Kevin Jolliffe, who is also the conservation officer on Cousine Island.

The presentation is aimed at beginners who may not know not much about orchids even though one of them, the tropic bird orchid (orkid payanke), is the national flower of Seychelles.

Mr Jolliffe will also talk about the threats to orchids, and orchid conservation both globally and in Seychelles, with a brief overview of the native species. It is hoped this will help improve conservation efforts to protect orchids and their habitat.
