Cycling: 45-minute circuit race-Louis extends domination

Louis covered 41 laps in 45 minutes to finish first in the sports bike category ahead of Louis (foreground) extended his winning run with another victory last FridayBertrand Lesperance, who was credited with the same number of laps.

Edward Pothin completed 40 laps to finish third ahead of Eric Talma (fourth) and Ricky Rosalie (fifth), who were both credited with 38 laps.

The first three riders received R300, R250 and R225, while the fourth and fifth place finishers got R200 each.

Speaking to Sports Nation, Louis, who has won all his races this year, said he was happy with victory and was looking forward to competing in the National Championship.

As for Lesperance, who is not training regularly, he explained he will not take part because of work commitments.

Andy Rose (23 laps) and Leeroy Labiche (13 laps) abandoned the race.

In the mountain bike division, Jason Lagrenade, 21, completed 32 laps and has said he will compete whenever he gets the opportunity. He received R200 for his effort.
Glenny Gappy (nine laps) and Cedric Ezais (three laps) failed to race for the whole 45 minutes.

Friday’s race was the first organised by the Seychelles Cycling Association, a week after its audited financial statements for the year 2007 were approved by its members during an extraordinary meeting.
