Police officers hone forensic skills

Twenty-eight cadet officers from the Seychelles Police have completed a week-long training course on forensic evidence and are now better placed to control and move about crime scenes, gathering trace evidence in support of investigations.

The training was offered by the United States Criminal Investigative Service and conducted by two officers from bases in Japan and Bahrain – Kiyomi Griffey and Robert Lee.

The cadets were presented with certificates for completing the course during a short ceremony on Friday at the Police Academy, Pointe Larue.

It was attended by Acting Police Commissioner Ernest Quatre and Superintendent Reginald Elizabeth, commandant of the Scientific Support and Criminal Record Bureau (SSCRB) of the Seychelles Police.
The cadets received their certificates from Superintendents Benjamin Zab and Ronny Mousbe.

Addressing the group of police officers, Supt Elizabeth asked them to put the knowledge gained to good use and to share their experience with fellow officers.

Acting Commissioner Quatre presented tokens of appreciation to the two American instructors who led the training. They in turn gave forensic equipment to the SSCRB.
